You see, the idea in a house on this hill, is to get a good view.
So not much of the house is on the side of the hill.
Instead, there's stairs going up to the house, which is as high as they could make it.
Then, you put BIG windows on the top floors.
and the garage on the bottom floor.
Well, you paint your house with some bright colors.

These buildings are all attached, it's all one apartment building.
And right in the middle is an entrance to their courtyard in the back.

My apartment building is on the other side of the hill, and just two blocks down (equivalent to about 12 stories of elevation from the top of the hill).

It's the only one on the block with any space between it and the next building.
